Girl Meets Pearl

One of the latest products from Benefit, Girl Meets Pearl has received a lot of attention. But does it live up to the hype??

If there's one thing that Benefit excels at, it's highlighters. They already have quite a range, including Moon Beam & High Beam. So I was puzzled at first - why release another?

The packaging is very cute - a bright, shiny pink tube that is the same design as That Gal primer. Remove the lid to reveal lots of tiny holes - twist the bottom like a glue stick and little worms of GMP suddenly appear. It smells lovely, like sweet, ripe raspberries, and has a thin consistency.

The pink hue is very flattering to most skin tones, and it's designed to be worn over makeup or alone, on the entire face.

At first glance, it looks a lot like High Beam. It's pink, it's a bit sparkly and reflects the light. However, there is a slight difference. High Beam is more noticeable on the skin, while Girl Meets Pearl seems to blend in to inconspicuously enhance your complexion. In the light it's quite sparkly - so if that's not your thing, GMP isn't for you.

I do love it though, it's quite a youthful product and will make your skin glow. You don't need much either, as a little goes a long way.

If I can't be bothered putting on a full face of makeup or want a more natural look, I'll just pat this on my face, concentrating on the apples of my cheeks and brow bone. It gives me a fresher look with minimum fuss.

I haven't done this, but I've heard that mixing a little in with a liquid foundation also works wonders.

Girl Meets Pearl is a bit pricy - AUD $53 / US $30 - so if you're strapped for cash, you need to consider which of Benefit's highlighters will suit your needs best. If you had to pick one I'd actually go for either High or Moon Beam (depending on your skin tone, read my review here), but if you're able to have GMP as well, you won't regret it.

The Girl Meets Pearl reviewed in this post was purchased by me.
This is 100% my opinion.
I am not affiliated with Benefit in any way.

Hi there Jasmine. I love this review but I dont think Im gonna buy this product because "that gal" primer makes my skin oily! and this product reminds me of it. I personally think pore-fessional is better as primer for my skin.
Im planning to buy High Beam! I wanna buy both high beam and moon beam but I think that would be such a waste of money.
I have medium skin tone and I don't know which one to buy! Any tips?

Anyway, keep on posting reviews about any new benefit products. I look forward to read it :)

Thanks for the feedback Faeraaa!

I don't find GMP to be oily at all, but I have kind of dry skin - That Gal doesn't bother me either. I would definitely say that High Beam is your best bet, it's kind of similar to GMP, and I think it's flattering to more skin tones. It's very pretty!
Let me know what you decide!

Great review, honestly. You're blog is amazing too. Mines still under the 'construction period'. Haha.
